As a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Military, Smith brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. He rose to the level of Commander with the U.S. Coast Guard and played a strategic role in countless operational missions. He directed complex negotiations between the Coast Guard, the maritime industry and response contractors and served as a liaison with federal, state, local, and foreign government officials. Mr. Smith was responsible for the mobilization readiness of more than 750 personnel and managed an associated multi-million dollar budget.
Mr. Smith holds a BBA in Management from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School. He has an extensive business background and has served in the private sector as a high-level executive in the commercial real estate field.
